Day 1

You will organize your flights individually arriving in Rome on May 16th. From the airport, you can comfortably take a taxi to get to the extraordinary and fascinating Hotel Donna Camilla Savelli, where you will be staying for the first three nights. The hotel is located in a monastery from the 17th century, designed by the famous baroque architect Francesco Borromini, and it has been restored immaculately, maintaining the monastery’s structure around a cloister with a well-maintained garden and a central marble fountain. The building, with its beautiful staircases, is decorated with valuable paintings and refined to the last detail with masterfully crafted stucco—a true haven of peace in the vivid neighborhood of Trastevere. In close vicinity to the hotel, you will find great local restaurants, original bars, shops, and important sites.

From the roof-deck, you will be able to enjoy a unique panoramic view of Rome. Here we will meet on May 16th at 7 pm for a welcoming aperitif. Afterwards, a short walk will get us to an excellent typical restaurant where we will be able to enjoy some of the delicious dishes of Roman cuisine. On the two following days, we will visit the most important sites of “The Eternal City,” from the Colosseum to the Forum Romanum, from the Trevi Fountain and Piazza Navona to Saint Peter. Of course, you will also have plenty of time to stroll through the glamorous shopping alleys, the charming markets, the beautiful parks, or to just sit in one of the countless wonderful cafes.

Winery Madonna del Latte

After our time in Rome, we will head north to our winery Madonna del Latte in Umbria, where a delicious menu will be waiting for us. A range of appetizers, crispy lamb baked in our wood oven, meaty artichokes from the area, locally produced cheese and charcuterie, and typical regional desserts. Needless to say, the menu will be accompanied by plenty of wine produced on our estate. Undoubtedly, we will also give you a tour of the winery—the vineyards, the modern fermentation cellar, and the ancient barrel cellar which was dug into the tuff stone as a tomb by the Etruscans more than 2,000 years ago.

Duomo di Orvieto

After a beautiful day at the winery, we will bring you to Orvieto Emma Palace Hotel & Spa, where you can unwind and enjoy the comfort and luxury of its spa right in the heart of this charming Umbrian town.

The next morning will be dedicated to the history and sites of the ancient Etruscan town Orvieto, majestically sitting on a vast plateau of tuff stone. Over the centuries, many popes have resided in the medieval town, erecting splendid buildings such as Italy’s most beautiful Gothic cathedral, which of course we will visit. Afterwards, you will have time to stroll around the picturesque little alleys of the town and have lunch in one of the many charming restaurants offering traditional Umbrian dishes.

Bagnoregio - The "Dying City"
Bagnoregio - The "Dying City"

In the afternoon, we will bring you to Bagnoregio. The “Dying City” is spectacularly located on a tuff-stone hill amidst deep canyons and dense oak forests. After a devastating earthquake, which disconnected the oldest part of town from the rest by a landslide, it was almost completely abandoned because of the risk of further erosions.

After a nice aperitif on the shore of Europe’s biggest volcanic-origin lake, Lake Bolsena, we will let this day come to an end enjoying the exquisite cuisine of the restaurant Radici (Roots), where the philosophy of making everything from scratch using high-quality local ingredients is key.

Florence
Florence

Next on the itinerary is Florence. Also here we chose a unique historically charged hotel located in the noble palace Acciaiuoli built in 1341. Hotel Torre Guelfa’s tower is the highest of the city and offers a breathtaking view of Florence and the surrounding hills. The featured rooftop bar is the perfect place to sip a glass of wine after an eventful day. We will spend the last two days of the trip experiencing the artistic and architectural gems of Florence and simply enjoying the beautiful ambience which makes this city a magic place.

On our last night together, we will dine at the best and most typical restaurant in town, Trattoria Il Cibreo, where we will be spoiled with the best food Florence has to offer.

On May 23rd, you can comfortably travel back to Rome with the high-speed train and fly back home. Or, of course, you can extend your stay in Florence or Rome as you please.

You can be certain to experience some unforgettable days in central Italy with us!
